January 2021 brings two big changes:

On the one hand, the term of office of the US ambassador in Vienna, Trevor Traina, ends. During his tenure, he did everything to optimize the good relations between the USA and Austria even more and to build bridges between the two countries - a goal that the Austrian-American Society also pursues. He managed to create a new and stronger bond: be it by enabling high-level political meetings, his economic expertise, which is particularly important in a country like Austria, which is one of the 10 fastest growing economic partners of the USA, or through his love for Austria , its way of life and culture. The ÖAG would like to thank Trevor Traina very much for the support and the good cooperation and wishes all the best for the future!

On the other hand, Joe Biden took the oath of office on January 20, 2021, becoming the 46th President of the United States of America. It can be assumed that his term of office will also have a major impact on European economic and climate policy and thus also affect Austria. The Austrian-American Society in its function as a mediator and which sees it as its mandate to support the positive and democratic forces, congratulates President Biden very warmly and wishes him a successful term in office.
